Deep Dungeon is the five-floor dungeon under Lorencia, added in Season 12 Part 2 and reworked in Season 21 Part 1-1. It is where the 4th class change quest takes place, and it is still one of the main sources of 4th wing materials. This guide covers the original layout floor by floor, then everything the Season 21 renewal changed.

4. Season 21 Part 1-1 renewal

Entry level per floor

Every floor used to require level 770. Each floor now has its own entry level - the lower floors opened up, the top two moved higher.

Monster changes

• Monster stats and the experience they give now scale to the character's entry level, rather than being fixed.
• The hunting penalty inside Deep Dungeon was removed.
• The debuff effects that Larva, Poison Bull Fighter and Thunder Lich applied to characters were removed.

The renewal also changed how the hunting penalty works game-wide, and carved Deep Dungeon out of it.

The 4th class change quest

The 4th class change quest chain runs inside Deep Dungeon, against Sent, the guardian knight of Lugard.

Background

Under the protection of Muren and Runedil, Etramu moved the sealing stone to Kethotum and began building a new barrier. His plan was to lure Kundun to Kethotum and seal him completely with the strongest barrier magic — which would fuse Kundun with the dark god into one being, beyond salvation forever, but the situation was far too dangerous and urgent to spare him. The plan worked perfectly. Distracted by destroying the sealing stone, Kundun walked straight into the trap. The barrier magic, built as a magic square from the sealing stone split into eight pieces, was more than even Kundun under the dark god's control could overcome. The eight stones roared and glowed red, and Kundun, howling with rage at the betrayal, slowly turned to stone. Once he was fully asleep the stones finally fell silent and returned to their original form. Etramu immediately gathered all eight and completed the barrier. Permanently sealed, Kundun sank into the vanished city of Kethotum, and it seemed the MU continent faced nothing but eternal prosperity.

With Kundun sealed by the three heroes Muren, Etramu and Runedil, his prize disciple Lemuria waited for her chance and found some way to take the self of Gaion — Muren's favourite — and make him revolt. She used Gaion to try to break the seal, but Etramu's anti-unsealing magic killed Gaion and badly wounded Lemuria, who lost much of her power and fell into a sleep lasting about a thousand years.

A thousand years later, to revive Secneum sealed inside Kundun's body, she did to Gaion's descendant Antonias exactly what she had done to Gaion, and resurrected Kundun. The revived Kundun did not raise Secneum; instead he used Secneum's power to try to rule the MU continent, summoning gates across Kethotum to call in his demons. Kethotum became a battlefield wrapped in flame once again.

Background

In Aida, where forbidden magic was used, a region was found holding not only the dimensional rift but a powerful dark magic that had never faded. Deep inside Aida, that magic drained the colour from the land and from every plant and animal growing in it, turning them black or white. People came to call the place Gray Aida, and one by one the heroes of the MU continent began to challenge it to remove the dark magic within.

6. Elite Zone monsters

Background

When Ferea became a battlefield, the surviving Kanturu people fled again through Tarkan and settled deep in the dry Scorched Canyon on the Kanturu border, building the Kanturu Slum. They sent word to their ally Arca and began preparing their revenge on Kundun's army.

The settlement was desperately barren — Kundun's army held the north, Tarkan's monsters swarmed the south, and only the laboratory and the soldier-training facilities could be built as timber huts while everyone else lived in tents. In the laboratory they borrowed Arca's magical science to turn ordinary humans into wizards so they could stand against Lemuria. The adult women took that power and trained to wield magic; the adult men trained as warriors to protect the wizards, and as assassins to quietly remove Kundun's key subordinates.

The plan seemed to be going well, but the barren conditions wore the Kanturu people down. Theft and fighting over food became common, and voices calling for surrender to Kundun grew into a faction — including many underfed, resentful wizards, warriors and assassins. On the night of a full moon they slipped out carrying a torn flag of surrender and headed north toward Kundun's forces. They did not get far before Lemuria's legion commander appeared in front of them, as if he had expected exactly this. Their representative offered surrender. The commander answered that he would give them eternal rest, took their souls, poured Kundun's power into their bodies to reforge them as his own servants, and shackled both their hands so they could hear only his orders.

Lemuria then ordered these pitiful soulless Kanturu to attack the Kanturu Slum. The Kanturu still living there were helpless against their own strengthened kin. Not only the slum but the whole of Scorched Canyon was left in ruins, and the survivors fled along the canyon to the coast near Atlans. Five great ships arrived — what should have been Arca's relief force — but they had already been destroyed by Lemuria's army, and only five broken hulls full of Arcan corpses reached the shore. The survivors despaired. The heroes of the MU continent now prepare to fight in Scorched Canyon, if only to lay its wandering souls to rest.

Background

Ancient records of Atlans revealed that a space called the Abyss had been built to seal Hydra during Kundun's invasion. The Atlanteans (Kanturu) wanted to trap the invaders in the darkness of the Abyss, so they used elite soldiers as bait to lure Hydra in and sealed the entrance — but the plan failed, and Atlans fell into Hydra's hands.

The direct passage is long gone, but a research group recently published coordinates that can be reached with a movement spell, and the heroes of the MU continent have been asked to explore it.

Atlans (Abyss) is built as three floors. Each floor spawns different monsters at a different difficulty, and each floor has its own entry level.

• Some monsters have area-of-effect attack skills.
• Every monster in Atlans (Abyss) has Excellent Damage Chance Resistance and Critical Chance Resistance values.
• Every monster in Atlans (Abyss) has 4th-tree Debuff Chance Resistance values.
• A hunting penalty applies below Lv 1,010 on all three floors; Lv 1,010 or higher is recommended.

3. Atlans (Abyss) monsters

Background

Kubera Mine was the first mine ever discovered on the MU continent. After followers of Kundun prayed at the altar where the miners held their rites, demons began to appear inside the mine one by one. What started as one or two grew to a number nobody could handle, until the mine could no longer be worked at all. The entrance was sealed and the place lay unused for a long time. Recently, with jewels and ore running short, the heroes of the MU continent have been asked to clear the demons out.

• Only characters of level 850 or higher can enter Kubera Mine.
• Movement command window (M) - move using 50,000 Zen.
• On foot - through the Kubera Mine Entrance gate in Devias at 158, 57.

• Kubera Mine is split into two areas: the Mine and the Abandoned Mine.
• Different monsters spawn in each area.
• The Abandoned Mine spawns monsters with stronger stats than the Mine area.
• You can mine with the Pandora Pickaxe inside the Kubera Mine safe zone.

6. Season 17 rebalancing

In Season 17 Part 1-3 the monster stats and monster levels in Kubera Mine were lowered, so it can be hunted at a lower character level than before. Experience gained dropped accordingly.

Characters of Lv 925 or higher hunt the Mine area without penalty, and Lv 970 or higher hunt the Abandoned Mine without penalty. (At release the penalty threshold was level 980 for the whole map.)

Background

The Temple of Arnil was a vast temple raised to the blood god Arnil (Lemuria) during the age of the ancient MU empire. It was once the most beautiful structure on the continent; today it stands ruined and desolate.

The temple was built by a group of renowned priests, and nobles and commoners alike followed them, mistaking the wicked blood god Arnil for a benevolent one. The priests knew exactly what Arnil was — they built the temple anyway, because they were demons wearing human faces, deceiving the people into raising a temple so their dark power could grow. The truth stayed hidden and the temple only got bigger.

When the evil god Secneum appeared on the continent, the priests of Arnil called a mass gathering at the temple. Once more than half the people of MU were assembled in one place, the priests dropped their disguise and slaughtered every one of them as a sacrifice to wake Arnil. Arnil rose, became Lemuria, and went on to resurrect the sealed evil god Secneum — Kundun. The temple was destroyed afterwards, but part of Kundun's following remained, and they have used the ruins as their base ever since, waiting for the day Kundun takes the continent.

6. Flawed Bloodangel Armor

Flawed Bloodangel Armor lets you craft Bloodangel armor without a Soul of Bloodangel. Collect 50 Sealed Armor Fragments and craft at the Chaos Goblin NPC in Noria using normal combination.

7. Elite Zone monsters

Background

Etramu Renos, the great wizard of the ancient kingdom of Arca, gave his life to seal Kundun. Muren Rexmillon, emperor of the MU Empire that united Lorencia and Arca, built the Kardamahal Underground Temple in the underground caves of southern Karutan from the relics Etramu left behind, so that his achievement would be remembered.

Kundun learned that the relics inside the temple held the power of the Extra, and summoned demons to seize the place. The demons destroyed the noble temple, and even the water running through it turned red. The heroes of the MU continent went to war to take the Kardamahal Underground Temple back.

Raklion of Oblivion - Forgotten Raklion

New hunting ground — now with Elite monsters

Background Story

Raklion is a frozen, storm-wracked land — a punishment born long ago, when Selupan coveted the forbidden Book of Secromicon. To contain that sin the earth itself was sealed, and an eternal winter took hold.

After countless years, an inexplicable phenomenon appeared in the depths of Raklion: a shimmering curtain of light known as the Aurora of Oblivion, and drifting within it, the Whale of Oblivion.

The Aurora erases the memories of all who face its light. Names, the past, even love and hatred — all fade away, until nothing remains but emptiness.

At first, people feared the place. But as time passed, some came to long for that oblivion, and to escape the pain of endless war they walked willingly into the abyss.

At last, the kingdoms of the continent of MU reached a decision: to rescue those lost in the abyss and to uncover the secret hidden within the Aurora of Oblivion, they dispatched a unit of warriors to Raklion.
