Socket items and the Seed system - complete guide

How sockets work from start to finish: which items have sockets and for which class, how to extract Seeds, craft Seed Spheres, upgrade them to Step 7, mount them, and the bonus and set options that appear when you combine elements correctly. All costs, rates and option values are read from the MuEurope server files.

1. How the system works

A socket item has 1-5 empty sockets. You fill a socket with a Seed Sphere - an element crystal carrying one option - and the item gains that option. The cycle is:

2. Creating Seeds (Extraction)

Success rate rises with the sacrificed item's level. On failure the Excellent/Ancient item drops to a random level between +0 and +2 and all three jewels are destroyed. On success the item is consumed and you receive a Seed of a random element - you cannot choose which.

3. The six elements and their options

Weapons accept Fire, Ice and Lightning. Armor, shields and helmets accept Water, Wind and Earth. Option values grow with the Seed Sphere's Step - the ranges below run from Step 1 to the maximum.

4. Creating and upgrading Seed Spheres

Synthesis: Seed + Sphere (monster drop) + 1 Jewel of Chaos + 1 Jewel of Creation + 1,000,000 Zen at the Seed Master. On failure everything is lost. The result is a Seed Sphere [Step 1] of the Seed's element carrying its option.

Sphere upgrade - Steps 1 to 7

Seed Spheres upgrade step by step using Sphere Upgrade Runes plus a second sphere of the same step range as fuel. Higher steps mean higher option values (the right end of the ranges above).

5. Mounting, bonus options and set options

Bonus socket options - the order matters

When one item carries the right elements, a bonus option can appear (30% chance). The order in which the spheres sit in the sockets decides which bonus you roll:

6. Socket counts and rules

How many sockets a dropped item has is random. On this server the odds are:

The 6-socket rule (Season 12): your equipped weapons can carry at most 6 sockets in total. A 5-socket Dark Stinger plus a 3-socket Devilwood Quiver cannot be worn together; 5 + 1 or 3 + 3 works.
Socket slot reduction: the Seed Master (Elbeland 46, 243) can reduce a 4-5 socket item to 3 sockets at 100% success (1 Jewel of Creation + 1 Jewel of Chaos + 1,000,000 Zen). All spheres must be unmounted first; level, skill, luck and extra options are kept. It cannot go below 3.
Socket necklaces (Jasper, Lapis Lazuli, Battle Jasper, Battle Lagoon - level 830, all classes) drop with up to 2 Excellent options and up to 3 sockets. They drop in Deep Dungeon 1-5, Atlans (Abyss) 1-3 and Crimson Icarus. A bonus option (Max Life or Defense increase) can appear depending on the socket order - mounting or extracting a sphere can remove it.

The 4th Tier Mastery Earrings, Blood Earrings, have been added.

Players can activate the Earring Set Option effect by wearing left and right Mastery Earrings of the same tier.

Players can enhance them up to level 15 at the Chaos Goblin combination NPC using Lapid Stone.

Mastery damage option — damage dealt to a target increases by the option value. The value goes up as the enhancement level of the Blood Earring increases.

Obtaining Blood Earrings

Blood Earrings are crafted by upgrading a +11 to +15 3rd Mastery Earring (Honor Earrings).

Left earring is upgraded to left earring, and right earring is upgraded to right earring.
Upgrading requires a Blood Casting Mold plus jewels.
When crafting, 1 to 3 earring options are randomly re-generated. If the earring you upgrade already has 3 options, the result is guaranteed at least 2 options.
On failure the Ruud Shop material and the jewels are consumed, and the upgrade material earring drops to +0.

Small Wings for all classes

Small wings (often called 0-level wings or beginner wings) are the very first wings a character can wear in MU Online. Unlike 1st class wings, which require level 150–180 and an expensive Chaos Machine craft, small wings can be equipped from level 1. They give a boost in damage, defense and movement speed, making early leveling much faster and safer.

What Do Small Wings Give?

All small wings and capes share the same core bonuses; only base defense differs by item:

Crusader players: the Crusader class has no dedicated small wing. Use the universal Wings of Growth (level 1, all classes) until you can equip the Crusader's own 1st class cape, Cloak of Protection, at level 150.

How to Get Small Wings

Small wings do not drop from monsters. Depending on the server, they are obtained from one or more of these sources: the Cash Shop / X Shop, starter gift boxes for new characters, promotional and seasonal events, or GM giveaways. On official servers many small wings are time-limited items; on most private servers they are permanent.

The jump from small wings to 1st class wings is modest in raw stats, so there is no rush — small wings comfortably carry you through the early and mid game. When you're ready, craft your 1st class wings (Wings of Satan, Wings of Heaven, Wings of Elf, Wings of Curse and class capes) in the Chaos Goblin Machine in Noria.

Why Wear Small Wings? (Beginner Tips)

Equip a small wing as early as possible: the +10% damage speeds up every kill, the 10% absorb roughly matches a full extra armor piece worth of survivability at low levels, and the movement speed bonus saves time on every map. Because they cost nothing to maintain and require level 1, they are simply the best item a new character can put in the wing slot. You can also upgrade them with Jewels of Bless and Soul to raise their defense up to +15.

What level do small wings require?
Level 1 — any fresh character can wear them immediately.

Can small wings be upgraded into 1st class wings?
No. They are separate items. 1st class wings are crafted in the Chaos Machine once you reach the required level.

Can I trade my small wings?
Usually not — small wings are character-bound on most servers (they can still be stored in your vault).

Do small wings let me enter Icarus?

Shields are one of the most underrated pieces of gear in MU Online. A good shield adds raw Defense, boosts your Successful Blocking rate, and can be the difference between surviving a boss hit or getting one-shot in PvP. This guide explains how shields work on muonline.eu, lists every shield in the game with full stats, and highlights the best shields to aim for at every stage.

Shield Settings on muonline.eu

No level requirement — every shield can be equipped from Level 1.
Any shield-capable class can wear any shield — class restrictions are removed, including Lord, Fairy, Lancer, Rune Wizard, Mage and Crusader shields.
Strength is the only requirement — meet the Required Strength value in the table and the shield is yours.

Classes that can wear shields: Dark Wizard, Dark Knight, Fairy Elf, Magic Gladiator, Dark Lord, Grow Lancer, Rune Wizard, Lemuria Mage, Crusader.

Classes that cannot use shields: Summoner, Rage Fighter, Slayer, Gun Crusher, Light Wizard, Illusion Knight, Alchemist.

How Shield Stats Work

Defense — flat damage reduction added to your total defense.
Successful Blocking — chance to fully block an incoming hit; crucial in PvP.
Durability — how long the shield lasts before it needs repair.
Required Strength — the Strength stat needed to equip it (the only requirement here).

Can every class wear shields? No. These classes can use any shield: Dark Wizard, Dark Knight, Fairy Elf, Magic Gladiator, Dark Lord, Grow Lancer, Rune Wizard, Lemuria Mage, Crusader. These cannot: Summoner, Rage Fighter, Slayer, Gun Crusher, Light Wizard, Illusion Knight, Alchemist.

Is there a level requirement for shields? No — all shields can be worn from Level 1. Only the Required Strength applies.

What is the best shield in MU Online on this server? The Imperial Lord Shield leads with 177 Defense and 245 Blocking, followed by the Imperial Lancer and Imperial Shield.

What does Successful Blocking do? It raises your chance to completely block an incoming attack — especially valuable in PvP and against bosses.

7th Mastery Earring ‘Verdant Earring’ has been added.

Mastery Earrings provide the ‘Earring Set Option’ effect by wearing left and right earrings of the same order.
Earrings can be strengthened up to +15 through the Chaos Goblin Guild NPC.

How to create Verdant Earrings
   Verdant Earrings can be acquired through the upgrade combination of Earrings of Binding, the 6th mastery earring.
   Earring of Binding +11~15 You can upgrade and combine using reinforcement items and combination material items.
   The ‘Verdant Craftwork Frame’ item is added as a combination material item, and the item can be purchased at the Ruud Shop.
   When combining upgrades, earring options are randomly re-assigned.

A total of 4 Excellent Socket Necklaces have been added. They work like normal in-game necklaces — they roll a standard Excellent option — but they also have a socket that lets you mount a Seed Sphere for extra stats, exactly like socket armor/weapons.

Up to 3 sockets can be opened.
Only existing Water / Wind / Earth type Seed Spheres can be mounted.
Seed Spheres are mounted and extracted at the Seed Master NPC in Elbeland at coordinates (46, 242).
Like other socket items, a bonus option may be granted depending on the seed sphere combination equipped.

5th Class Wings — MU Online Season 19+

The 5th-level wings (and 5th capes/cloaks) are the strongest wing tier in the game. Creating them is a two-step process: first you craft a 5th Wing Relic, then you combine that relic into the finished 5th wing. Unlike earlier tiers, the 5th wing has no Luck option, but it adds a brand-new Damage Correction stat and can hold a Wing Core for extra options.

How to Create 5th Level Wings

You first need to create a 5th Wing Relic. After combining the relic, you can perform the 5th wing combination at the Chaos Goblin Machine.

How to Attach / Detach the Wing Core

Wing-core installation is done through the 5th Wing UI window.
Hover the 5th wing in your inventory and press Alt + Right Click to open the "5th Wing (Cloak)" UI window.
With the window open, drag & drop the wing core from your inventory into the core slot to install it.
Installation/detachment can only be done on a 5th wing in your inventory, not on one currently equipped.
To detach, right-click the mounted wing core in the UI window, or drag & drop it back into your inventory.
