MU Online Ability Cards Guide – Skill, Option & Elite Cards (5th Skill Tree)

Ability Cards are the core of the 5th Skill Tree (Ability Enhancement) system in MU Online Season 20+. They unlock powerful sub-skills, add raw stats like attack power and defense, and grant chance-based effects such as Triple Damage or Ignore Defense. This guide covers everything: how to farm Ability Crystals, craft cards at the Chaos Goblin, equip them, upgrade them to level 5, and salvage duplicates — with the exact costs and drop rates used on our server.

1. What Are Ability Cards?

There are three categories of Ability Cards, all managed through the Ability Card Book (one per class). Drag and drop cards from the book into the Ability Tree slots to equip them.

Card typeWhat it does
[Skill] Ability CardUnlocks a 5th-tree sub-skill for your class (e.g. Meteor Storm of Gale for DW) with a built-in bonus such as +15 Attack Speed, +1 Attack Range or Splash Damage, plus one random add-option (HP / MP / AG Increase).
[Option] Ability CardFlat stat options (attack, wizardry, defense, elemental damage, crit and more). Comes in 3 colors (Blue / Green / Purple) and 5 types (Type 1–5). Each card fits only a slot of its color and type.
[Elite] Ability CardChance-based and premium options (Triple Damage %, Ignore Defense %, Full HP Recovery % etc.). One Elite card per color. The Elite slot opens only after all 5 Option cards of that color are equipped.

On top of these, every character receives three [Extra Damage] cards — Nuke, Bolt and AoE — usable by all classes. Nuke boosts single-target damage, Bolt boosts multi-target ranged damage, AoE boosts wide-area damage.

2. Unlocking Ability Card Slots

The Ability Tree opens after completing the 5th class change quest. Slots then unlock progressively with character level:

LevelSlots unlocked
800First Blue slots
850Remaining Blue slots (Type 1–5 + Elite)
900First Green slots
950Remaining Green slots (Type 1–5 + Elite)
1000First Purple slots
1050Remaining Purple slots — full tree open

Important: the Elite slot of a color activates only when all 5 Option cards of that color are equipped, and the Elite card's usable level is capped by the lowest level among the equipped Option cards. Level your Option cards evenly!

3. Farming Ability Crystals (Drop Locations & Rates)

Ability Crystal is the main crafting material. It drops in two versions with a personal daily limit (resets at 12:00 / on next login):

  • Ability Crystal (tradeable) — max 1 per day per character
  • [Bound] Ability Crystal — max 4 per day per character

Both drop from regular and (Elite) monsters in endgame maps. The higher the map, the better the chance per kill:

(Elite) versions of these monsters drop at the higher rate in each range. Farm the highest map you can hold to cap your 5 crystals per day per character.

4. Crafting Ability Cards at the Chaos Goblin

All Ability Cards are crafted at the Chaos Goblin in Noria (180, 103). Every combination is 100% success:

5. [Skill] Ability Cards per Class

Each Skill card activates a 5th-tree sub-skill with a fixed bonus effect. Every crafted Skill card also rolls one random add-option: MP Increase (60%), HP Increase (30%) or AG Increase (10%).

Stacking tip: the same Skill card can be equipped in up to 3 skill slots. The Skill Attack Power stat stacks — the built-in effect and add-option do not.

6. [Option] Ability Cards – All Options by Type

8. Upgrading Ability Cards (Level 1 → 5)

Every card can be upgraded to level 5. Right-click a card in the Card Book to open the Level-Up window. Each upgrade consumes duplicate cards of the same type and option, Ability Enhancement Stones and Zen — success is guaranteed.

9. Salvaging (Reducing) Duplicate Cards

Cards you don't need can be salvaged into Ability Enhancement Stones (100% success). A card cannot be salvaged the first time it is obtained.

10. Quick Tips & FAQ

What should I craft first?
Start with Option cards for your Blue slots (5 crystals each) and your class Skill card. Fill all 5 Blue Option slots to unlock the Blue Elite slot before spending crystals on Green/Purple.

Which options are best for damage dealers?
Prioritize Skill ATK / 1-2-3 Slot Skill ATK, Critical & Excellent DMG, and the Nuke/Bolt/Wide line that matches your main skill's damage class. Elite picks: Ignore Enemy Defense (Green) and Triple DMG Chance (Purple) are the strongest rolls.

Why can't I equip my Elite card?
All 5 Option cards of that color must be equipped first, and the Elite card level is limited by your lowest-level equipped Option card.

How many Ability Crystals can I farm per day?
5 per character: 1 tradeable + 4 bound. The limit resets daily at 12:00. Farm on multiple characters to speed things up, and remember only the unbound crystal can be traded or sold.

Cheapest way to get Enhancement Stones?
Crafting (5 crystals + 1 Bless + 10M Zen = 1 stone) competes with your card crafting budget. If you pull duplicate Elite or Skill cards you can't use, salvaging them (5 / 10 stones) is usually more efficient.

Good luck, and see you in-game!
